Have you ever found that perfect dress only to find it didn't quite fit right? Every tried to have it altered? Professional alterations can be very expensive. At Claflin Academy we help you learn to do it yourself. Using our "hands-on" method, this class explores a variety of techniques to help you alter your clothes for a perfect fit. We'll help you learn the practical side of alterations, what can be done and what can not. You will learn the proper way to take up a cuffed hem in a pair of pants, repair or replace a zipper, replace a missing button. Is that shirt collar too tight? Learn a quick and easy method of solving the problem. Need to take in a dress that's too big? With Do-It-Yourself Alterations you can learn the way to do it right and save time and money. Students are asked to bring one garment that needs to be altered or repaired. (Students should please be aware that there are some alterations are just not possible. For example enlarging a garment that is too small.)
