Even the most basic sewing skills are seldom taught in schools today. Claflin Academy is here to fill this gap. Learning to sew gives you freedom to create clothing that fits you and your personality.

Our beginning classes are designed to give you a solid foundation in the art of sewing, We take you step-by-step through the basics. And with our "hands-on" method, you get the chance to practice on samples and finally apply your new skills in building a useful and creative project.

Skill Level: I

Our Beginner classes were created for the person who has little or no knowledge of how to sew and are designed to a good foundation in the art of sewing. We keep our classes small, no more than 6 students, giving you more individualized instruction.

We'll start you out by helping you learn how to use a sewing machine and sewing tools. From there we move on to how to select appropriate fabric and notions for your project, how to properly lay-out and cut the pattern pieces, and finally how to bring it all together in the construction of the garment.

All classes include a hands-on project to give you a chance to put your new found skills into practice.

Classes are set up in 3-hour blocks of time. Each 3-hour block is $40.

Begin to build your own personal Sewing Notebook with our informative handouts and technique samples.

At Claflin Academy we'll start you out on the right foot
