Welcome to Claflin Academy Summer Sewing Camps 2008
Once again, Claflin Academy is offering our popular Summer Sewing Camps
Classes are designed for ages 10 through 16.

Campers will learn how to use a sewing machine and sewing tools while exploring the world of basic garment construction. A variety of projects will be offered. Each sessions includes 15 hours of instruction.
Level 1: We will focus on learning to use a sewing machine. Students will learn the very basics of threading the machine, winding a bobbin, proper insertion of the bobbin and needle. How to set the length and width of a stitch, and how to determine if the tension is set properly. Projects will be small and may include a drawstring bag and tote. Completion of class will result in an operator's license. Most materials will be provided except for sewing tools.
Level 2: We will work on 2 or 3 simple garments. Girls will make a denim skirt and top. Boys will make boxer shorts and shirt. Students will provide fabric, matching thread and notions needed for projects.
Level 3: TBA
Classes are hands-on, project-oriented in a creative, laid back and supportive atmosphere where campers are strongly encouraged to work at their own pace.
Our class sizes are small so
that each student receives plenty of personal attention. As a result, we have a limited
number of spaces available, so reserve early!

Summer Session 1: Level 1 -- 6/16/08 to 6/20/08 - 9:30 a.m. to Noon. For boys only. Summer Session 2: Level 1 -- 6/23/08 to 6/27/08 - 9:30 a.m. to Noon. For girls only. Summer Session 3: Level 2 -- 7/7/08 to 7/11/08 - 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Summer Session 4: Level 2 -- 7/21/08 to 7/25/08 - 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Summer Session 5: Level 2 -- 8/4/08 to 8/8/08 - 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Summer Session 6: Level 3 -- 8/11/08 to 8/15/08 - 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Fees: $100 per session (A $25 deposit is required to reserve a space.) Campers will need to provide their own sewing tools. (Sewing tools are available for purchase at Fasturn Junction.
